MOBA!

We went to Boston for Memorial Day Weekend. And while there, we stopped to visit the Museum of Bad Art ! The MOBA is located in the basement of the Dedham Community movie theatre, right outside the men's room. I must admit that after seeing the museum, I am glad my piece was rejected.

Lyttle Lytton Contest

The 2009 Lyttle Lytton Contest results are in! They were actually posted a month ago, but I just thought to check now. The Lyttle Lytton Contest is a shorter version of the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest, which challenges entrants to write the worst possible introductory sentence to a novel. Adam Cadre's Lyttle Lytton contest offers the same challenge, but the sentence must be 30 words or less.

Anyway, my entry received an honorable mention this year, which of course pleases me. Click here to see the 2009 winners. The 2010 contest is already underway!

Finished!

I finally finished my breakfast cereal alphabet! Click here for the answers. I linked each letter to its corresponding television commercial on Youtube.

Letter Z

I wasn't sure I could find a breakfast cereal that starts with Z. Fortunately my daughter's friend's mother eats healthier than I do, and referred me to Zoe's Granola. I actually quite like the logo! (Thanks, Miriam!)

Letter X

Okay, back to X. Yes, Chex is technically a C, but it ends in X, which is as close as I'm going to get.
Fortunately for me, the Chex checkerboard logo naturally forms an X with the squares. There are many different varieties of Chex, but I chose the Rice Chex because it is gluten-free (thanks, David!). Here also is the original recipe for Chex Party Mix.

Letter Y

I skipped ahead to Y because I am still thinking about how to draw X. Anyway, I used Yummy Mummy for Y. Yummy Mummy was the fruit-flavored variety of the General Mills monster-themed breakfast cereals. From what I can tell, Yummy Mummy was the reincarnation of the Fruit Brute, but it's not exactly clear to me. Here is a tell-all history of the monsters.

While searching for the Yummy Mummy commercial on Youtube, I also found these videos from doboramma.

Letter W

I used Wackies cereal for W. I had originally planned to use Wheaties, but the singing gorilla in the Wackies commercial was strangely compelling. I've never actually tried Wackies, but I imagine it tasting like the banana flavored circus peanuts.

Only three letters to go!
