Brimble's Mercantile Week 8 - Shingles, Flower Boxes, & Cakes
I shingled three sides of the roof, and added window boxes to the front and back windows. I bought the window boxes to hide the excess superglue that I dripped on the windows and could not remove. I think they work swimmingly.
Devon made the "Groppe Bakery" sign using Word and Excel, and both girls made some fantastic cakes out of Crayola Model Magic clay. Almost finished!

Brimble's Mercantile Week 7 - Roof
I will not describe the horror that was constructing the Brimble's Mercantile roof. I will only say that it is over now, and the roof is assembled.
We made curtains out of lace trim, and put up the Alice's Adventures under Ground pictures that I made before. We also made some pies using bottle caps, glue, and tissue paper. I found the instructions for the pies here. Thanks, Dollhouse Decorating!

Brimble's Mercantile Week 6 - Doors & Trim
We added the doors, trim, and windows this week, and I patched the holes in the wallpaper (ahem). Megan also made some signs for the front store windows. She created them in Word, and I used our copier to shrink them down to 30% size. It's starting to look like a bakery!

Brimble's Mercantile Week 5 - Dormers
I thought the roof was next, but apparently the dormers come first. The dormers fit together nicely. Unforutnately I now realize that all of the slots in the wallpaper that I carefully cut out with an exacta knife should not have been cut at all. For now I have unsightly holes in the wallpaper which I should probably patch with extra wallpaper.
However, a more interesting solution is to cover them with pictures:
I bought miniature frames and xeroxed Lewis Caroll's original illustrations from Alice's Adventures under Ground. I thought the pictures were perfect for the setting and the predicament.
Up next: exterior trim!
